Itinerary Overview

 

Day 1: Arrival in Yangon (No meal)

Upon arrival at Yangon airport, your tour guide will meet and welcome you. Start your downtown tour at the historic Post Office followed by Strand Hotel, Mahabandoola Garden and Independence Monument. Visit the famous Chauk Htat Gyi, home to a 70-meter long reclining Buddha. Take photos at the picturesque Karaweik Hall royal floating barge. End your day with an amazing sunset view at Shwedagon Pagoda, noted for its glittering gold stupa.

 

Day 2: Yangon – Golden Rock (Breakfast)

Magical Golden Rock
Enjoy a scenic journey to Golden Rock base camp and transfer to transit junction with an open truck for an authentic local experience. Once you arrive at Golden Rock Pagoda, a major pilgrimage site for the local Buddhists, you can immerse in a spectacular view, especially magical at sunrise and sunset.

 

Day 3: Golden Rock – Bago – Yangon (Breakfast)

Mystical Bago
Rise and shine for a sunrise stroll. After breakfast, return to base camp to take a tour to Bago, capital of the Mon Kingdom in the 15th century and a town steeped in legend. Visit the local market, Shwemawdaw Pagoda and the 55-metre long reclining Shwethalyaung Buddha. Thereafter, proceed to Yangon. Stop by Allied War Memorial Cemetery, the final resting place of Allied soldiers who perished during the World War II campaign in Myanmar.

 

Day 4: Yangon – Mandalay – Amarapura – Mandalay (Breakfast)

Traditional Mandalay
Transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Mandalay, a city of great cultural importance. Visit Mahamuni Pagoda and local artisanal gold leaf making, wood carving and marble carving workshops. Admire Golden Palace Monastery famous for its intricate wood carvings. Continue to Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world’s largest book due to the Buddhist scripture carved on 729 marble slabs. End your day with a visit to a 200-year-old teak bridge, the most photographic site in Myanmar.

 

Day 5: Mandalay – Departure from Yangon (Breakfast)

Back to Yangon
Morning domestic flight to Yangon airport to connect for homebound flight

Most of Myanmar has a tropical monsoon climate. As it is a big country, temperatures can vary significantly from area to area.

Yangon’s average annual temperature is 27.3 °C, while the average annual rainfall is 2378 mm.Bago’s average temperature is 23.2 °C, while the average rainfall is 1619 mm. Mandalay’s average temperature is 27 °C, while the average rainfall is 812 mm.

The seasons in Myanmar are as follow:

  • Cool – November to February are the best months to visit because rain is unlikely and it is the least humid time of the year when air is warm and the clearest. Since this is the most comfortable time to visit, it is also the peak tourist season.
  • Hot – March to May are months that most of the country is intensely hot. Rain is also unlikely. Most of Myanmar can be dusty and hazy, hindering scenic views.
  • Rainy – June to October are monsoon months with high rainfall. Yangon, Golden Rock and Bago experience long and constant rainfall from June to August, with Golden Rock becoming misty and cold. Rain is less intense in September and October.
