Day 1: Siem Reap

Tour Attractions: Angkor Thom Area, Ta-Prom Temple, Angkor Wat Temple, Phnom Bakheng
This morning, you will be welcomed by your tour guide at your Siem Reap hotel lobby and brought on the tour to Angkor region.

First, you will proceed to the Angkor Thom area. It was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer empire. You will be able to see the magnificent Angkor Thom Temple South Gate, Bayon Temple, Baphuon Temple, Phimean Akas Temple, Elephants Terrace and Leper King Terrace, Royal Palace, Woman and Man Pond.

Next, visit the Ta-Prohm Temple, built in the Bayon style largely in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. The photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings have made the UNESCO World Heritage Site one of Angkor's most visited temples.

In the afternoon, continue your journey to the largest religious monument in the world – the Angkor Wat Temple. Built in the early 12th century, it is one of the seven greatest architectural wonders of the world.

Lastly, make a visit to Phnom Bakheng for beautiful sunset views of the much bigger temple Angkor Wat, which lies amid the jungle about 1.5 km to the southeast.

Day 1: Phnom Penh

Tour Attractions: Independence Monument, Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, Wat Phnom, Tuol Sleng Museum, Killing Fields of Choeung EK, Russian Market

This morning, you will be welcomed by your tour guide at your hotel lobby and brought on the tour.

Your first stop in Phnom Penh will be at the Independence Monument built in 1958 for Cambodia's independence from France in 1953. It stands on the intersection of Norodom Boulevard and Sihanouk Boulevard in the centre of the city.

Next, visit the Royal Palace, a complex of buildings which serves as the royal residence of the king of Cambodia since the mid-19th century. On the south side of the palace is the Silver Pagoda, which got its name because its floor is made up of 5,000 silver tiles. (NB: Proper attire must be worn, i.e. no sleeveless tops, shorts & bermudas when visiting Royal Palace & Silver Pagoda.)

Afterwards, proceed to the tallest religious structure in the city – the Wat Phnom. It is a Buddhist temple built in 1373. At 27m above ground, you can enjoy stunning views over the tree-lined avenues of the city.

In the afternoon, visit the notorious Tuol Sleng Museum. In 1975 Tuol Svay Prey High School, the former site of the museum, was taken over by Pol Pot's security forces and turned into a prison known as Security Prison 21 (S-21).

Thereafter, visit the Killing Fields of Choeung EK, about 17km south of Phnom Penh. It used to be the site of a former orchard and mass grave of victims of the Khmer Rouge killed between 1975 and 1979.

Lastly, it is shopping time at the Russian Market. There is a large selection of souvenirs, curios, antiques, carvings, handicraft, and many other things of interest to visitors. It is also the place to buy clothes at big discount prices.

Transfer back to your hotel after all the shopping.
