Most of Myanmar has a tropical monsoon climate. As it is a big country, temperatures can vary significantly from area to area.

Yangon’s average annual temperature is 27.3 °C, while the average annual rainfall is 2378 mm.Bago’s average annual temperature is 23.2 °C, while the average annual rainfall is 1619 mm.

The seasons in Myanmar are as follow:

  • Cool – November to February are the best months to visit because rain is unlikely and it is the least humid time of the year when air is warm and the clearest. Since this is the most comfortable time to visit, it is also the peak tourist season.
  • Hot – March to May are months that most of the country is intensely hot. Rain is also unlikely. Most of Myanmar can be dusty and hazy, hindering scenic views.
  • Rainy – June to October are monsoon months with high rainfall. Yangon and Bago experience long and constant rainfall from June to August. Rain is less intense in September and October.

Start the day with a visit to the Angkor Thom area via the South Gate of Angkor Thom. Inside the walls of this city, you will tour Bayon, standing in the exact centre of the city of Angkor Thom. Located 200m northwest of the Bayon is the Baphuon, a single sanctuary temple-mountain situated on a high base. Then, visit the Phimean Akas Temple, situated near the center of the area enclosed by the walls of the Royal Palace. The temple is built of roughly hewn sandstone blocks and has little decoration. Next, proceed to the Elephants Terrace, built at the end of the 12th century. It is dedicated to Buddhist and replica to the Bayon style of art. Afterwards, head to the Leper King Terrace located immediately north of the Elephants Terrace. It is faced with dramatic bas-reliefs, and carries on the grandeur theme that characterizes the building during Jayavarman VII's reign. You will also tour the Royal Palace, Woman and Man Pond, enclosed by a laterite wall with only the base remaining today.

Thereafter, visit the Ta-Prohm Temple, built in the Bayon style largely from late 12th to early 13th centuries. The photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings have made the UNESCO World Heritage Site one of Angkor's most visited temples.

After lunch, continue your journey to the largest religious monument in the world – the Angkor Wat. Built in the early 12th century, this architectural masterpiece is one of the seven greatest architectural wonders of the world.

Lastly, make a visit to Phnom Bakheng for its beautiful sunset. Enjoy your dinner with an Aspara dance performance at the restaurant. Transfer back to your hotel thereafter for a good night’s rest.
